No doubt about it, cycling is one of the very best ways to drink in the contrasting landscapes, enjoy the winding country roads, and feel the life and beauty here. Springtime, early and late summer and autumn are the ideal times to cycle through Ardeche, Gard and Vaucluse. There are thousands of miles of itineraries letting you explore the region at your own speed.
Throughout Vaucluse lies an inexhaustible network of bike paths for cyclists looking for emotions in spectacular landscapes. The real challenge of course is Mont Ventoux, a must on the Tour de France. Around it, but also through the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, around the ochre land or the “little Venice”, there are waymarked bike circuits, hundred of kilometres to cycle away on the small roads.
One exemple is the Tour du Luberon circuit. This 236-kilometre long circular route starting from Cavaillon leads you from village to village around the Luberon Natural Park.
In Vaucluse, you can look for places with the “Accueil vélo” (welcome for cyclists) sign: hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, etc… offer additional services to cyclists (bike sheds, basic repair equipment, early hearty breakfast, etc.).
